Eye Doctors Encourage Vision Exams for Young Students

As children across Oklahoma begin their school year, the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians (OAOP) is encouraging parents to schedule vision exams to detect problems that can impact learning. Approximately one-in-four children has an undiagnosed vision problem, which can impact reading skills, classroom concentration and even lead to behavioral problems. Untreated vision conditions can also lead to frequent headaches and other physical symptoms.

Pediatric comprehensive vision screenings and prescriptions for glasses are covered under both Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act, making vision care for children more accessible than ever.
