Lew Earl Caldwell

Lew Earl Caldwell, 79, of Caney/Soldier Creek passed away Monday, March 5, 2018, at his home. He was born on March 22, 1938, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to the late Alma Royce Caldwell and Mary Alice Phillips Caldwell. Lew was raised in Oklahoma City, Okla., where he graduated high school. He served in the United States Marines and later in the United States Air Force before working for Kirby-Smith as a sales rep, and he retired in 2003. Lew married Shirley Rue Carney on Aug. 30, 1968, in Oklahoma City, Okla,. In 1992, they moved to Caney/Soldier Creek where he lived the rest of his life. Lew was affiliated with the Assembly of God faith, and he enjoyed flying, fishing, hunting, boating, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife: Shirley Rue Caldwell, Caney/Soldier Creek, Okla.; children: Kenneth Henderson, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Cherri Penick, Kingston, Okla.; three grandchildren; sisters: Susan Davis, Richardson, Texas; and Alma Crosley, Pursell, Okla. Lew was preceded in death by his parents, three sons: Timothy, Richard, and James Caldwell. Visitation will be Friday, March 9, 2018, at Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Okla. from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a family hour from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Services will be Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Watts Memorial Chapel, Madill, Okla. Jeff Manuel will officiate the service. Interment will be at the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery, Madill, Okla. Casket bearers are: Travis Barker, Kenny Henderson, Richard Hundley, Don McCrieght, Charles Talkington, and Daniel Talkington.
