Jane Madeline McConnell

Jane Madeline McConnell, 82, of Madill, Okla., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at the hospital in Durant, Okla. She was born on April 5, 1935, in Coffeyville, Kan., to the late Orrin E. Rose and Amy Inez Wismer Rose. Jane was raised in Coffeyville where she graduated from the Coffeyville High School in 1953. While in high school, she was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corp and was always on the honor roll. She later attended Coffeyville Community College where she received her associate degree in business. Jane married Jack Darril McConnell on June 19, 1955, in Coffeyville, and they moved around the Midwest following Jack as he completed his education. In 1996 they moved to Madill when he retired. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Madill where she was very active in the church kitchen with luncheons and funeral dinners. Jane enjoyed her flowers, landscaping, and being a great mom. She is survived by her husband: Jack McConnell, Madill, Okla.; children: Stephen Orrin McConnell and wife, Gina, Wichita, Kan.; Linda Elaine Whaley, Hurst, Texas; David James McConnell and wife, Aunia, Huntsville, Ala.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and one on the way; sister: Becky Jarrett, Wheatland, Colo. Jane was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John Rose. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2448 E. 81st St., Suite 3000, Tulsa, OK 74137 Services were Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Madill, Okla.
