Black Friday Shopping

Black Friday – two words that could make anyone cringe, but for some of us it is the beginning of the holiday shopping season. Although Tina Firquain and I braved the Black Friday sales together, there were some who stayed indoors because of the millions of people who do get out on that day.

According to the National Retail Federation, there were approximately $682 billion (a 4-percent increase from 2016) spent in 2017 on Black Friday alone by over 100 million people. In 2016, 101.7 million people braved the crowds to find that special deal. In 2015, only 74 million people were desperate enough to brave those crowds. So, as many people have a legitimate reason for not participating in the Black Friday festivities, it is obvious that there are still die-hard shoppers who will risk everything to find that one sale.
